Timber Hollow Overlook Engagement Session

Meghan and Brent’s Timber Hollow Overlook engagement session is one I’ll remember!  I’ll remember this session because #1…I’ve NEVER been to Shenandoah National Park, #2 I really have to overcome my fear of heights, and #3 this session turned out to beautifully!

When Meghan and Brent first mentioned an engagement session at Shenandoah National Park, I was so excited!  It was a completely different location than I’m used to shooting at!  After doing a little research and arriving a little early, we settled on Timber Hollow!  Now, if you’ve ever been to Shenandoah National Park, you know that there are lots of overlooks but on a few that you can actually walk down onto.  Timber Hollow is one of the overlooks that allows you to walk down onto the mountain and it is breathtaking!

My Fear of Heights

Driving up the mountain with my oldest son (who is also afraid of heights) was definitely a funny challenge! With Timber Hollow being 3360 feet in elevation, we had to drive and extra 30 minutes up the mountain after you actually enter the park!  We laughed at ourselves the whole way up because we had mini panic attacks every time we looked over out the car and saw mountains and towns below us.  No where during the drive were we ever in danger…we just got those crazy butterflies in our stomachs just at the site of being so far up!

The Most Beautiful Couple

When Meghan and Brent arrived, we just jumped right into shooting!  These two are so easy to be around AND to photograph that I almost ran out of posing ideas because they breezed right through them!  Luckily Timber Hollow gave us plenty of ideas!

One of the reasons why I adore Meghan and Brent is because of their love for each other and their love for the Lord.  When we first sat down and met with them, one of the main things they walked about was making sure their relationship and wedding glorified God.  To have a couple look at their relationship that way was refreshing and I walked away from our meeting feeling so refreshed after sharing our own testimony.

I honestly know that their wedding next year at the Women’s Club of Portsmouth is going to be great and Michael and I are so honored to be a part of it!

As wedding photographers, we are often taught to find and cater to our "ideal" clients.  "Ideal clients" are often a certain group of people with a certain style, budget, or personality!  While establishing your ideal clients is a great business practice, Michael and I have adopted a completely different view of this were EVERYONE has a seat at our table!
